As many others in our breed, I grew up showing horses. My horses taught me that correct conformation and movement results in animals that perform more successfully and have longer, healthier lives. The beauty, elegance and grace of many top hunters were traits I saw when first introduced to the Whippet breed. Watching a friend’s whippet at my barn I became absolutely captivated. Whippets remain true to their original design in both form and function, and the breed is a healthy breed that is being closely monitored by dedicated breeders.

Ryan, my very first Whippet, came to me in the 1990’s. Even though Ryan was "just a pet", he owned my heart. After his passing my search for a sound, well bred whippet puppy led me to the purchase of my first show dog. I have been extremely lucky to have found a few close friends in whippets that mentor me and share their knowledge of whippet pedigrees.

I am an active member of the American Whippet Club and have served on the Board of Directors for the Metropolitan Atlanta Whippet Association.

RyLand is a small “kennel” and we are dedicated to our dogs. All of our puppies are raised in our home, under foot. We strive to breed only the very best, this is why it is an honor for me to have achieved the AKC Breeder of Merit award. Each of the dogs used in our breeding program have annual health testing. We breed to produce what attracted me to whippets years ago, a beautiful body type with sound minds and temperaments.

I cannot imagine my life without whippets. My journey to this point has brought me great fulfillment and so many cherished friends.

Hug your hounds.
